FAQ

What drawings and plans do I need to begin work?

This largely depends on the scale of the project. If it is a simple kitchen or bathroom fitting then sketch drawing by a competent draughtsman should suffice. However, if a very high level of detailing is required, accurate and detailed drawings would be necessary.

For large, structural projects, detailed plans and specifications are a must. This is as much for your protection as ours. The more we can understand the scope of the project at the outset, the more precise the timescales and costs will be.

We are happy to advise you of a selection of architects and engineers with whom we have successfully worked with before.

How do I find out what building controls and planning permissions I might need?

Some works are classed as permitted development and others require planning consent and sometimes listed building consent. Your local authority building control department and conservation officers can advise you.

Should I hire an architect or engineer and how do I find one?

It is as well to hire a project team that can work together. We would be happy to put together a professional team including architects, surveyors, engineers and tradesmen.

Do I need to buy the fittings for my bathroom or kitchen?

There are two choices here: client supply or builder supply. Client supply is cheaper because you will be taking responsibility for the measurements and specifications, as well as dealing with the supplier at all times.

However we can offer advice and selection on kitchen and bathroom suites. The added advantage is that we can measure everything accurately to make sure it all fits correctly.
